Boat Reviews By Owners

0 -- 19' 0" SEA FOX

Model: Center console

Cockpit: I do not own one of these boats but have heard enough people complain about them and because of that I believe their story should be told.

Cabin:

Construction: l live close to a small boat brokerage and from time to time I enjoy grabbing a beer and going up the road to see what's on the "chopping block". As always, I usually find one or two Sea Foxes being offered. As far as looks go they are not horribly bad..I have seen worse...the problem is the designs, construction techniques, and hardware. You get what you pay for...period! You know it's bad when someone mounts the throttle so it's basically verticle on the console. These boats are cheaply made and sadly people fall for them and then later sell them only after losing thousands of hard earned dollars.

Handling: Sea Fox isn't dumb..at one boat show they had the latest models on the floor along with some very pretty girls dressed in bikini's for that extra marketing touch or should I say lure. Needless to say many "buyers" were hanging out in this section and I remember a young guy getting worked pretty hard by a salesman. I decided to take a look at one of the small center consoles and poke around below deck, especially in the places where the builders don't want you looking. So here I am dressed with a visor cap, white Guy Harvey shirt, shorts, Sperry deck shoes and a Rolex submariner watch. You might say that I was dressed for the part, or atleast would portray the image of a seasoned, educated boater but what the hell do I know, right?. The salesman comes over and says "That's where the bilge pump goes"..I responded with "really?"...wow!...thank you Capt. Obvious. Anyway he asks me "Do you want to buy a boat today?" and I said "Not this one " and walked off. I thought to myself how can that guy sell such an inferior product to some unsuspecting new boater and sleep at night.

Engine Room:

General Comments: I don't mean to bash but when it comes to boats I do not recommend this brand. I know many people are probably happy with owning a Sea Fox but might not know any better. The truth is may people could buy an older used name brand boat for the price of a new Sea Fox and be happy. If you enjoy sud-standard construction, shoddy craftsmanship, and entry level accessories then treat yourself. Do yourself and your family a favor and purchase a quality, name brand boat..you will be better off in the long run.
