1988 -- 38' 6" CARVER
Model: 32 Convertable
Cockpit: Helm visability is good. Fishing is also good because as slow as it is it not good for much else.
Cabin: If you do not fall through the rotten sole when you open the sliding door, that will fall off if you do not hold on to it, there is a couch to the left that will seat two and a captians chair for a 3rd passenger. WOW, what room. Galley is down and the head has a separate shower stall that has a big crack in the liner. V berth forward.
Construction: Gelcoat looks like someone painted it on with a brush. Swim platform is falling off. Otherwise this is a very great stable boat.
Handling: Feels like your sitting on top of a buoy in 2 to 3 foot seas it rocks so much. Pretty easy to dock if wind is calm.
Engine Room: She has two 5.7 engines and will rip out a blistering 17 MPH, which is just barely on plane. Houseboats have passed me while I am at full throttle. My friend has an aft cabin Carver that is just as slow. Is it the hull design that makes Carvers so slow?
General Comments: I have had this boat for 10 years so it was not that old when I bought it. First I tried to repair itms that broke then it got to be so common I gave up. Have not tried to sell it because I would feel guilty that I unloaded it on some poor sole.
